Gilbert Police officers responded on Monday night to a welfare check at a residence on East Sheffield Avenue and found 21-year-old Angelys Spurgeon dead from a gunshot wound. Her domestic partner, 26-year-old Judah Chesley, was arrested at the scene and booked into Maricopa County Sheriff’s custody on a second-degree murder charge, booking number G231028, according to the Town of Gilbert.
Investigators quickly collected evidence and conducted interviews, leading to Chesley’s incarceration as the case unfolds. It is important to note that these are allegations, and Chesley is presumed innocent until proven guilty through a court proceeding or a guilty plea, as reported by the Town of Gilbert.
Gilbert PD extended thoughts to the victim’s family during "this difficult time" as they continue investigating a fatal incident.
