Earlier this week, police found the body of an 86-year-old man on a sidewalk outside the long-abandoned Gilroy outlet stores.
Officers were conducting a welfare check on Thursday morning when they discovered the man unresponsive. They attempted life-saving measures, but he had no pulse and was not breathing. Paramedics later arrived and pronounced him dead at the scene.
Gilroy Police Department said the man’s identity has not been released as family members are still being notified. The cause and manner of death remain under investigation.
