A tragic incident unfolded yesterday at a Gilroy intersection, leaving one man dead and a woman seriously injured. The Gilroy Police Department reported via social media that the collision occurred just after 8 AM, at Charles Lux Drive and Lopez Way. It appears a vehicle struck the two individuals as they were navigating the crosswalk. Despite life-saving attempts, the man succumbed to his injuries on the scene.
The woman involved in the accident was urgently airlifted to an area hospital, where she is listed in serious condition. The driver, a teenager whose identity has not been disclosed, was detained and is cooperating with authorities. According to the Gilroy Police Department, neither drugs, alcohol, nor speed is believed to have played a part in the collision at this juncture.
