A theft at the Hamilton County Health Department has led to the arrest of one of its own employees, after missing funds prompted an internal investigation and a subsequent police response. According to a social media post from the Hamilton County Sheriff's Office - TN, approximately $1,100 in cash disappeared from the department's building on East 3rd Street, which led deputies to review surveillance footage as part of their investigation.
The incident, which transpired on Tuesday, revealed footage depicting an employee, Anthony Meeks, entering the facility after the usual business hours. He accessed the employee safe from which he seemingly extracted an envelope and then vacated the premises. Detectives, who specialize in criminal warrants and fugitive cases, arrested Meeks after procuring warrants for charges including "Theft of Property Over $1,000" and "Burglary." The sheriff's office also made it clear that the information provided is still preliminary and could change as the investigation unfolds.
