The Hamilton County Sheriff's Office is ringing in the new year with a fresh set of faces. Earlier this week, Sheriff Austin Garrett, accompanied by executive staff, welcomed five new members into the fold of the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office personnel. The hiring move aims to bolster various departments within the organization, notably Uniformed and Corrections Services. These new hires represent a mix of former military, law enforcement, and civilian backgrounds, demonstrating the Sheriff’s Office commitment to diversifying its ranks.
Among the newly onboarded staff is Deputy Christopher Baker, who will fully start to work patrol after transitioning from a civilian role at Coca-Cola and as an E5 in the United States Navy. His experience in such structured environments is set to be an asset in his new position. Deputy Jessica Hightower is also taking her post on the patrol after serving with the Memphis Police Department. The addition of Deputy Jarrad Peace, with his dual background in the Chattanooga Fire Department and Southern Fluid Power, rounds out the team as a Judicial Security Deputy.
The Hamilton County Sheriff's Office also embraced cross-state recruit Deputy Jesse Smith of the Santa Ana Police Department in California. Smith brings with him the discipline and valor of a former United States Marine Corps Corporal to his new role on the patrol. Moreover, Christine Buhr transitions into civilian law enforcement service as a Law Enforcement Clerk, following her tenure with Food City and previous dispatch experience for various Tennessee emergency and transport agencies.
These appointments were announced via a social media post by the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office, where they invited the community to welcome their newest members. "Once again, please join us as we welcome these five individuals to our HCSO family," the department expressed. For those interested in pursuing a career with the Sheriff's Office, the post also directed individuals to visit their website for more information on available career opportunities. Accompanying the announcement were photographs of the newly hired individuals, featuring alongside them Sheriff Austin Garrett.
