A devastating car crash in Hamilton has led to an indictment for driver Brandon Begley, age 41, on three counts of aggravated vehicular homicide, according to FOX19. The incident, which claimed the lives of three individuals, including a 10-year-old child, occurred on December 21 just before 4:30 p.m. The Butler County Prosecutor's Office confirmed the indictment, which came after the tragic events unfolded on River Road near Hooven Avenue.
Reports state that Begley was attempting to pass three other vehicles by crossing into oncoming traffic when his vehicle collided head-on with another car. The collision sent one vehicle crashing into a detached garage and a fence, as per a crash report obtained by Local12. The victims were identified by the Butler County Coroner's Office as 35-year-old Milton Alvarez Lagos, 27-year-old Bety Salazar Lopez, and 10-year-old Milton Salazar Alvarez.
WLWT reported that further investigation by Hamilton police revealed that the vehicle's speedometer was stuck at 80 mph, suggesting Begley was traveling at high speeds when he crossed the double yellow line to overtake the other cars. The aftermath of the tragic event not only included the irreparable loss of life but also saw Begley hospitalized with serious injuries.
