A New Hampshire woman is facing serious charges after a dangerous incident on Interstate 95, where she was arrested for drunk driving and other offenses. Jenna Jerrett, 40, of Hampton, was taken into custody early Saturday morning after several 911 calls reported a car going the wrong way on the highway, NBC Boston reports.
State police arrived on the scene to discover Jerrett's black 2023 BMW 3 Series had collided with a concrete barrier, with calls coming in shortly before 1:30 a.m. Jerrett, who police say showed signs of impairment at the scene, is now charged with felony reckless conduct with a deadly weapon, and misdemeanor charges of aggravated driving under the influence of liquor, as well as violation-level charges of reckless operations, according to WMUR.
Following the incident, Jerrett was held on preventive detention at the Rockingham County Jail and is scheduled for arraignment on Monday in Brentwood District Court, although attorney information was not immediately available for comment. Anyone with further information regarding this incident is encouraged to reach out to Trooper Patrick Vetter at [email protected]. The New Hampshire State Police have requested through NBC Boston.
The charges Jerrett faces are severe, with the felony indicating a grave level of recklessness on her part. The State Police’s quick response to the scene potentially prevented further tragedy on the interstate. Her arraignment is eagerly awaited by those following the case, to see how the justice system will address such a perilous breach of public safety.
