Harland Brewing is leveling up in a big way this week, opening its first full-service restaurant tomorrow in the 4S Ranch neighborhood of Rancho Bernardo and bringing a full kitchen and expanded dining to Del Sur Town Center. The new outpost is the brewery's biggest hospitality play so far, built to serve families and neighborhood regulars while still keeping the beer front and center. The space gives Harland room to match composed entrées with its core lineup and seasonal releases.
According to The San Diego Union-Tribune, the menu leans into comfort food with global touches, featuring kung pao Brussels sprouts, grilled flatbread, chicken satay salad, half-roasted chicken, a salmon poke bowl and braised short rib. The outlet also notes that the bar will pour Harland beer alongside ciders and cocktail-inspired seltzers, and that the restaurant plans to roll out weekend brunch service on Saturdays and Sundays.
Chef, Menu And Neighborhood Focus
Scott Cannon, Harland's director of culinary operations, designed the 4S Ranch menu and brings experience from Cork & Craft and Delicias, according to San Diego Magazine. Cannon told the magazine he aimed for a balance of familiarity and creativity so kids, date-night couples and everyone in between feel comfortable. Several popular handhelds from Harland's South Park tasting room are expected to make the jump to 4S Ranch, joining new shareable starters and mains.
Space And Design
Co-founder Anthony Levas described the interior as a midcentury-leaning space with terrazzo, a flagstone mosaic wall and floor-to-ceiling windows, and said, "Harland 4S Ranch will look different than any of our other locations," in comments to San Diego Beer News. The publication reports that the 3,400-square-foot layout finally gives Harland room for a full commercial kitchen and noted that the venue was awaiting a final permit ahead of this week's debut.
Neighborhood Impact And Next Steps
Harland's website lists the Del Sur Town Center address and shows the company is hiring both front- and back-of-house staff for the new spot, per Harland Brewing Company. The expansion follows the brewery's shutdown of its One Paseo tasting room last fall as Harland pivots toward larger, full-service operations, a shift noted by Eater San Diego. Founded in 2018, Harland now runs tasting rooms in Scripps Ranch, Bay Park and South Park, according to The San Diego Union-Tribune.
