The city's indoor park, Outdoors In, located at 124 E Main Street, is now offering an online party reservation system, just in time for those seeking an escape from the dreary winter blues without having to brave the great outdoors. The new system, which went live as of Friday, allows for an easy and quick booking process for anyone planning a birthday bash or a simple get-together in a playful, enclosed environment, according to the City of Hillsboro.
Outdoors In isn't your standard indoor park. Far from it. Here, kids and the young at heart can explore a full-size play structure, challenge themselves on the 16-foot bouldering wall, or dive into a variety of toys and games, including the NEOS whole-body gaming system. For those who need a break from sensory overload, the park offers the Sensory Sensitive Play sessions—think less noise, dimmed lights, and a calmer play atmosphere.
The operational hours cater to both the public and those seeking private events. Monday through Friday, the park opens for Public Play from 9 am to 12 pm and again at 1:30 pm to 4:30 pm, except for special Sensory Sensitive Play times set aside on Mondays and Tuesdays. Weekends are split between Public Play in the mornings and rental opportunities in the afternoons for those exclusive celebrations.
One shouldn't miss out on Wednesday's special Public Play+ either, which runs from September to May, and includes a standout activity for kids to really get their wiggles out, between 2 to 3:30 pm. It's a chance suited for those under six to both play freely on the playground and to engage in an extra bit of structured fun. As described on the Hillsboro Parks & Recreation website, "Included with cost of admission. Open to all ages but recommended for 6 and under," according to the City of Hillsboro.
