In a recent enforcement effort to clamp down on traffic violations, the Horizon City Police Department made an arrest on New Year's Eve involving a wanted individual caught speeding. The arrest was documented in a social media post by the department, providing details of the incident and reaffirming their commitment to road safety.
The traffic stop occurred in the 14000 block of Horizon Boulevard, where police officers flagged down a vehicle after detecting a speed of approximately 78 mph in a zone designated for 55 mph. The driver, identified as Christopher Carlos Martinez, was found to have active warrants following a records check performed by an attending officer. The warrants issued by the El Paso County Sheriff's Office included those for Driving While Intoxicated and Failure to Maintain Financial Responsibility, as the Horizon City Police Department reported on their Facebook page.
Martinez was arrested at the scene without incident and subsequently transported to the El Paso County Detention Facility. The total bond for his release was set at $8,330.
