A recent social media update from the Horizon City Police Department announced the arrest of Joey Severo Garcia for Driving While Intoxicated (DWI) after a traffic stop revealed excessive speeding and signs of alcohol impairment. According to the Horizon City Police Department, the incident occurred late Saturday night on January 3, when Garcia's motorcycle was clocked going 61 mph in a 45 mph zone on Eastlake Boulevard.
Officers administering standardized field sobriety tests concluded that Garcia was unfit to operate a vehicle, which was later substantiated by breath test results showing alcohol concentrations of 0.113 and 0.111. These results served as grounds for his arrest and subsequent booking into the El Paso County Detention Facility. The Horizon City PD used the occasion to remind the public about the heightened dangers of operating a motorcycle while intoxicated, highlighting the effects of alcohol on vital functions needed for safe riding, including balance and coordination, reaction time, and judgment.
