Two individuals experienced a precarious moment this past Saturday when their hot air balloon collided with power lines in La Verkin, Southern Utah. According to KUTV, the balloon became ensnared on a power line in the early hours of the morning, prompting a rapid response from local emergency services.
In a statement obtained by KSL Newsradio, the Hurricane Valley Fire and Rescue noted that upon arrival, a safety perimeter was immediately established around the incident site. Crews directed the two passengers to stay in the basket, dangling in the meantime, while the power line could be secured.
The rescue operation intensified with the arrival of Rocky Mountain Power officials. As confirmed by Gephardt Daily, once the power line was de-energized, the occupants were finally instructed to vacate the basket without injury. Thereafter, efforts were concentrated on removing the hot air balloon from its precarious position upon the power line.
