Local veterans in North Mecklenburg have a new reason to feel valued, thanks to a partnership between Mecklenburg County and the Town of Huntersville. A new Veterans Services Office has officially opened its doors inside the Huntersville Town Hall, as reported today. The office aims to ensure that veterans and their families have easy access to a range of services, including housing, health care, and employment support.

Available Monday through Friday, from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., the office will be staffed by a Veteran Service Officer who can assist with walk-in services. Parking for the new Veterans Services Office is accessible from Maxwell Avenue and N.C. 115, with additional space available at the Town Center parking deck.

The new Veteran Service Officer, Culeen Shafer, comes to the position with a wealth of experience. An Air National Guard veteran with 24 years of military service, Shafer holds a master’s degree in public policy administration with a focus on nonprofit management. With a strong background in public affairs and nonprofit work, she is poised to make a significant impact. “I have a passion for community service,” Shafer told the Town of Huntersville, “And I’m here to help ensure veterans and their families receive the benefits and resources they have earned.”

The services offered through the Huntersville office are designed to offer a comprehensive suite of resources for service members, veterans and their loved ones. Located at 14704 N. Old Statesville Road, on the first floor of the town hall in office 173, the Veterans Services Office is positioned as a hub of support within the community.
