At approximately 5:13 p.m., Springfield Police officers, who are conducting an ongoing investigation, engaged with a vehicle in the 2400 block of Neil Road, according to a report from 25 News Now. It was during the stop that four individuals, armed with firearms, emerged from the car, subsequently leading to an exchange of shots where one individual was struck.
As detailed by Central Illinois Proud, officers at the scene promptly delivered first aid before the injured party was taken for medical care. The person shot during the altercation was admitted to a local hospital, finding themself in serious yet stable condition. Despite the violent encounter, no police officers sustained injuries during the incident.
