A Cyprus man has been arrested following a Port St. Lucie Police investigation into online child exploitation. Adam Daniel Lea, 45, from Limassol, Cyprus, faces charges of soliciting others to share child sexual abuse materials and allegedly abusing a child over an extended period, WPBF reports.

The months-long investigation, which began in mid-summer 2025 by an undercover Port St. Lucie Police Department (PSLPD) detective, highlights law enforcement’s cross-border efforts against child exploitation. Despite attempting to conceal his identity using a VPN, Lea inadvertently exposed his actions to the undercover operative, leading to his arrest.

With support from U.S. Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) in Athens, the PSLPD obtained legal authorization to examine Lea’s digital activity, leading to a major breakthrough. Following a review of the evidence, authorities in Limassol executed a search warrant at Lea’s home, resulting in the rescue of the victim and Lea’s arrest, according to a Facebook post by the Port St. Lucie Police.

The Port St. Lucie Police Department highlighted the importance of international cooperation in the case, thanking U.S. HSI Athens and local authorities for their efforts in ensuring the child’s safety.

Resources are available for those affected by sexual abuse, and authorities encourage victims or anyone aware of abuse to seek help. Assistance can be accessed by calling 911 or contacting the Sexual Assault Assistance Program of the Treasure Coast at 866-828-7273.
