Food truck operators in Johnson City, looking to renew their permits for the year, can save some cash by participating in an early re-inspection process announced by the Johnson City Fire Department’s Fire Prevention Division. Per a recent notice, renewals completed before March 1 come with a reduced fee of $50 as opposed to the standard $200 charge applied to later renewals.
Inspections are scheduled for Thursdays during January and February, including dates on January 8, 15, 22, and 29, and February's calendar is marked for the 5, 12, 19, and 26. Each of these will take place at Memorial Park Community Center parking lot, located at 510 Bert St. The time slots available are from 9:30 a.m. to noon, and then from 12:30 to 2 p.m., as reported by Johnson City's official site.
These inspections are an imperative step for food truck vendors to continue their operation within the legal and safety regulations of the city. To avoid potential gridlock or mishap, the JCFD requires vendors to schedule an appointment for their inspection. Vendors looking to set their inspection times can send an email to [email protected] to secure a slot.
The JCFD aims to collaborate closely with these mobile gastronomic hotspots, ensuring that safety remains top of mind for both the vendors and their clientele. By upholding these standards, the JCFD looks forward to maintaining a "safe environment for employees, customers, and the community," as mentioned on the City of Johnson City website.
