Last Saturday, Kaua‘i Fire Department responded to a structure fire at Girard’s Quality Cleaners in Hanapēpē, with no injuries reported. Firefighters from Kalāheo, Hanapēpē, and Waimea stations arrived shortly after 2:25 a.m. to find the first floor of the building fully ablaze, according to the County of Kauai.
The crews worked quickly to contain and extinguish the fire, preventing further damage, as reported by the County of Kauai. The incident caused significant damage to the building and its contents.
KFD's Fire Prevention Bureau is investigating a fire at a local cleaners that caused an estimated $4.388 million in damage, including the building and its contents. Fire crews left the scene shortly before 7:05 a.m. The cause of the fire is still under investigation, as stated by the County of Kauai.
