Last Wednesday night, a storage tent engulfed in flames roused the Hanalei community as Kaua‘i Fire Department personnel raced to combat a structure fire on Kūhiō Highway. The fire, which broke out shortly after 11:05 p.m., prompted an urgent response from nearby Hanalei Fire Station firefighters and the on-duty Battalion Chief, according to a report by the County of Kaua‘i's official release.
The flames quickly consumed a 10-foot by 20-foot storage tent before first responders arrived on the scene at about 11:20 p.m. With precision and haste, the firefighters tackled the blaze, successfully extinguishing the initial fire. But the battle didn't end there. Upon further investigation, they uncovered an extension of the fire to an adjacent shipping container. The containment efforts continued, focused on dousing the fire extension and quelling all remaining hot spots, as stated by the County of Kaua‘i.
Authorities reported that the fire did not cause any injuries. Nevertheless, the firefighters remained vigilant, ensuring the fire was thoroughly subdued before clearing the scene a little before 1 a.m. yesterday.
