A kidnapping in Plum Borough has violently intersected with a shooting in Pittsburgh's Greenfield neighborhood, leaving one man hospitalized and authorities searching for two suspects. According to the Plum Boro Police Department, the ordeal began last night when they responded to reports of an armed kidnapping involving an undisclosed ransom. The search for the victim led Pittsburgh Police to track his cellphone to the Hazelwood area, WTAE reported.
Later, at approximately 7:10 p.m., an altercation reportedly escalated into gunfire on the 900 block of Deely Street. A 911 call was placed by a neighbor who claimed to have heard a "pop and somebody screaming they’d been shot," according to information obtained by WPXI. Responding officers discovered a man with a gunshot wound to the chest. The victim, who has not been identified, provided police with a detail that the suspects had fled in a vehicle after the shooting. He is currently in stable condition in a hospital.
Authorities have drawn a connection between the shooting and the kidnapping, although the suspects remain at large. Residents of Greenfield, unaccustomed to such incidents, have been left shaken. As one neighbor, insisting on anonymity, stated to WPXI, "I’ve lived here for 10 years and nothing like this happens here."
Pittsburgh Public Safety is investigating a shooting and possible kidnapping that left a man injured. Police are searching for two armed suspects believed to be involved. Authorities are asking anyone with information to contact police as the investigation continues. Local officials say more details will be released as they become available.
