The La Vergne Police Department welcomed four new officers to its ranks in a recent ceremony on Friday. According to a news release from the city, Police Chief Christopher Moews led the proceedings, administering the oath of office and discussing the profound responsibility attached to the badge.
According to the La Vergne city press release, Moews told the gathering, “The badge is symbolic. It represents the strength of the position, the honor that comes with it, and the fidelity we commit to as police officers.” He emphasized service, protection, and upholding the community’s trust. Three officers will attend the police academy, while the fourth, already POST-certified, will enter the Field Training Officer program.
Highlighting the challenges of law enforcement, Moews expressed confidence in the new officers’ professionalism and dedication. “La Vergne is home to some of the best law enforcement professionals in the nation,” he said, according to the La Vergne city press release.
“This is a moment of gravity,” Moews said. “That badge is to be worn with honor and distinction—but also as a reminder of why we do this work, and why it matters that every officer comes home safely.” The ceremony concluded with badge pinning and photographs with families and department leaders, according to the La Vergne city press release.
As the new officers begin their duties, the City of La Vergne and the police department congratulate them. Their addition strengthens the department’s ability to protect the city and serve the community.
