A Sunday night walk in Lincoln Park turned violent when a man and a 6-year-old boy were stabbed on a neighborhood block of North Sheffield Avenue, sending both to the hospital but, fortunately, in good condition.

The attack happened around 10:24 p.m. in the 2700 block of North Sheffield Avenue, between Diversey Parkway and Schubert Avenue, when a man the pair did not know approached, became aggressive and pulled out a sharp object, starting a fight, according to CBS Chicago. The 27-year-old man was stabbed in the left arm, and the 6-year-old boy suffered a minor laceration to his back.

Both victims were taken to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center, where they were listed in good condition. Belmont Area detectives are handling the investigation. The suspect was last seen running south on foot, and as of Monday morning, no arrests had been reported.

Where Victims Were Treated

Both the man and the child were transported to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center, whose main campus is at 836 W. Wellington Ave. on the North Side, according to the hospital’s website. No additional information about the victims or the suspect had been released.
