The City of Lawton continues to repair infrastructure damaged by last year’s April floods, focusing on bridge railings along waterways. The Stormwater Maintenance Division is installing new, sectional railings that can be easily removed for repair and better withstand high-water events, according to the City of Lawton.
Replacements have been completed at SW 17th and Numu Creek, NW 44th, and Wolf Creek, with more locations still pending. The new railings have an open design that allows water and debris to pass through, reducing the risk of future damage, as reported by the City of Lawton.
The City of Lawton Stormwater Maintenance Division is inspecting more sites and planning railing replacements, including one at NW Meadowbrook and 50th Street. These projects are part of ongoing efforts to strengthen infrastructure and protect against future flooding.
