Lehi City residents are waking up to changes in the winter parking code, and those changes might just make life a little easier during the chilly months. As per a recent social media post from Lehi City, the general overnight parking restriction that residents have contended with during winter has been lifted.
In a move that simplifies the rules, Lehi City announced, "The general overnight parking rule has been removed!" However, not to be washed away in a sigh of relief, there remain particular conditions under which the curbside parking privileges are retracted. Specifically, no person shall park or leave a vehicle on any street while a snowstorm is in progress, and for up to 48 hours after a snowstorm ends. Additionally, parking is prohibited when there is an accumulation of snow or ice at a depth of 1 inch or more on the traveled way.
This policy shift reflects an evolution in the city's approach to managing the challenges brought about by winter's often unpredictable nature. It offers a measure of flexibility to residents, allowing them to better navigate the demands of daily life against the backdrop of wintry weather.
The rules are clear-cut and aim to strike a balance between convenience and the efficient clearing of streets during snow events. "No person shall park or leave a vehicle on any street when there is an accumulation of snow or ice at a depth of 1 inch or more on the traveled way," Lehi City reminds citizens. It's critical to abide by these conditions not only to avoid the hassle of fines or towing but to ensure that snow plows can do their job effectively, keeping streets safe and passable.
