The Lewisville Public Library, located at 1197 W. Main Street, is more than a place to quietly enjoy a book. It is serving the community with a variety of activities designed to enrich and educate residents of all ages. As reported on the City of Lewisville's official website, from swapping puzzles to setting financial goals and even offering free income tax preparation, the library has its doors open Monday through Saturday for a plethora of events.
One such event, the Puzzle Swap Drop-Off, invites patrons to "clear out those old puzzles and pick up some new ones," according to the City of Lewisville. People can drop off up to 10 gently used puzzles at the 2nd-floor adult services desk anytime the library is open from Tuesday through next Friday. Participants can then swing by next Saturday, from 10-11:30 a.m., to pick up "new-to-you" puzzles. It's a community event that not only encourages them to clean out their shelves but also to share the joy of puzzles with others.
Another session aims to assist locals in being more financially savvy. In a one-hour engagement, a DATCU expert promises to guide adults through setting and achieving "personal financial goals," according to the City of Lewisville's website. Whether those goals include a significant purchase, a dream family trip, or eliminating debt, these are discussions to help community members pave a way forward. This workshop, which requires no sign-up before attending, is scheduled next Tuesday, from 6:30-7:30 p.m. in the Crawford Meeting Room.
Perhaps most importantly, the Lewisville Public Library is providing free income tax preparation assistance in collaboration with the United Way of Denton County. This crucial service is available for individuals with an income up to, but not over, $67,000 per year. Starting next Thursday and running through April 9, the assistance is given on Thursday evenings and Saturday mornings in the computer lab, with no need to necessarily make an appointment ahead of time. Given the ever-complicated nature of tax forms, this free service is a vital resource for those looking to correctly and confidently file their taxes.
Individuals interested in the resources and events can check the library's official schedule and further details on their website. Library hours accommodate most schedules, with operations from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Thursday, closing an hour earlier on Fridays and Saturdays, and remaining closed on Sundays. For those hoping to join any of these community-enriching activities, the door to knowledge and assistance at the Lewisville Public Library is wide open.
