The Butler County Coroner's Office has identified the victim of a tragic collision involving an ambulance in West Chester. Ernestina P. Obeng, 43, of Liberty Township, was declared deceased at UC Health West Chester Hospital following the incident, which occurred at approximately 5:40 p.m. on Tuesday on Beckett Road, as reported by FOX19. The crash saw a West Chester Township ambulance, returning from a run, striking another vehicle that injured Obeng and another individual, who were then taken to the hospital.
While the West Chester Township authorities continue their investigation into the cause of the crash, details remain sparse. The West Chester spokeswoman informed, in a statement obtained by FOX19, that the ambulance collided with another vehicle as it was returning from a run, leading to the injuries. The condition of the second person involved in the crash has yet to be disclosed.
According to Local12, the crash took place along a stretch of Beckett Road frequently trafficked by residents. The emergency responders, part of the West Chester Township ambulance crew, reportedly treated the patients before transporting them to the hospital.
