The Washington County Sheriff's Office in Tennessee reported the arrest of 35-year-old Derek J. Keys from Limestone for charges including Aggravated Burglary and Aggravated Criminal Trespassing, following an intrusion incident earlier this month. According to the official social media post from the Sheriff's Office, authorities apprehended Keys after responding to a burglary in progress on January 13 on Jimmy Keys Road.
Officials say the homeowner discovered the residence's door broken upon arrival and encountered Keys inside; previously, the homeowner had barred Keys from the premises on August 11, 2024, leading to the Aggravated Criminal Trespassing charge, after confronting Keys, he quickly walked away towards his residence across the street, and it is during this quick retreat that the homeowner then found security cameras from their house tossed in the yard. Deputies made contact with Keys, who admitted to the intrusion, and he was subsequently taken into custody.
The Washington County Detention Center is currently holding Derek J. Keys, whose bond has been set at $5,000. The Sheriff's Office stated that Keys is scheduled for a court appearance on January 14.
