
Residents looking for a splash of creativity to brighten the gloomy winter days can find solace at the local Art Center, which promises an array of workshops and classes for all ages. Whether you're aiming to hone your artistic skills, find a new hobby, or simply enjoy some quality time with loved ones, there's something on the roster for everyone. Chill vibes and good times are on tap at the Art Center's 'Happy Hour' where adults can dabble in a sip and paint class on Friday, Jan. 16 from 6 to 8 p.m. for $30; drinks and canvases included. If wool painting sounds more like your speed, then sign up to craft a winter scenery for the same price and timeframe on Friday, Jan. 30, as reported by the City of Eden Prairie, MN.
Those interested in fiber arts can register for a needle-felted gnome workshop on Thursday, Jan. 22, from 10 a.m. to noon. The class, which costs $25, is open to participants ages 18 and older and guides attendees in creating a small felted figure. Families looking for a shared creative activity can attend Clay Pinch Pots for PROP on Saturday, Jan. 17, from 4 to 6 p.m. The class costs $25 per person and offers parents and children the opportunity to work together on simple clay projects, as per the City of Eden Prairie, MN.
Youth programs are also well represented. While older students are in school, children ages 6 to 11 can attend a No School Day: MLK Day of Service for PROP workshop on Monday, Jan. 19, featuring clay bowl decorating and pinch-pot projects, at $30 per class. Youth ages 11 to 17 can choose between fused-glass trinket bowls or pottery wheel bowls offered during the same time slots.
A second No School Day on Monday, Jan. 26, includes an “Art Mix” morning session and an afternoon class to create clay snow pals, priced at $30 and $35, respectively. Older youth may also register for a full-day pottery wheel workshop that day for $70. Registration details are available on the Art Center’s website. Teens ages 12 to 17 interested in developing their skills can enroll in Teen Clay: Intro/Intermediate Pottery Wheel, held Mondays from Feb. 2 through March 16, from 3:45 to 6:15 p.m., for $195. After-school busing is available from Central Middle School and Eden Prairie High School.
Adults and teens ages 15 and older may participate in Intermediate Watercolor Painting on Wednesdays from Jan. 21 through Feb. 25, from 6:30 to 9 p.m., for $170. A Comic Creation workshop will also be offered Saturday, Jan. 24, from 9:30 a.m. to noon, for $35. Space is limited for all classes, and early registration is encouraged. Preschoolers ages 3 to 6 can take part in Pre-K Creative Play: Winter Wonderland on Saturday, Jan. 24, from 10 to 11 a.m., for $10 per child. Drop-in participation is welcome.
