The Los Altos Police Department took to Facebook yesterday, shedding light on an underage DUI arrest in the early hours of New Year's Day. The incident began when a Los Altos officer pulled over a vehicle near Almond Avenue and Avalon Drive for failing to stop at a stop sign at approximately 1:39 AM, according to a social media post by the Los Altos Police Department.
Evidently showing signs of alcohol impairment, the underage driver was subjected to field sobriety testing, during which they reportedly admitted to having consumed alcohol. After failing the sobriety tests, the young motorist was arrested and subsequently booked into Santa Clara County Main Jail, as confirmed by officials.
The Police Department's message, while stern, also carried a note of resolution as the new year unfolded. Emphasizing the importance of responsible decisions, the Los Altos Police reminded the public through their post, "never drive under the influence."
