Building on a foundational 2025, Owens said, "We were able to go into 2025 and really set the foundation of our city. We’re gonna go into 2026, really looking to scale and mature what we’re able to do in this city."
Despite these strides, Mableton's growth is not without its challenges. Currently, the city lacks a general property tax to fund essential services, such as public safety which it relies on Cobb County to provide. Owens discussed the potential establishment of a special service district for law enforcement funding. This issue is reminiscent of the larger Cobb County which, as mentioned by Georgia Trend, has committed to staying connected with constituents throughout its own steady economic growth and urban development projects.
Not only is Cobb County flourishing due to its effective collaboration and communication strategies with local entities, but its economic progression also has been acknowledged as part of a broader regional resurgence. For instance, the Cobb County School District broke ground on their second innovative Cobb Innovation and Technology Academy. Additionally, Marietta is experiencing a surge in commercial and residential vibrancy, highlighted by the introduction of the nation's largest community to meet new energy-efficient housing standards.
Mableton stands as a microcosm of the county's development, striving for enhanced civic engagement and infrastructure improvements. Moreover, industry and tourism are booming county-wide, with major corporate headquarters moves to the area and the anticipation of significant sporting events, such as last year's MLB All-Star Game and the upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup, driving regional excitement. Even smaller-scale success stories, like the remarkable growth of Glenn's Café — a testament to the power of inclusion — add to the county's momentum.
