
A man in his 30s has succumbed to injuries following a New Year's Eve shooting in St. Louis' Gate District. The incident occurred on December 31, 2025, around 6:15 PM near the intersection of Rutger and Ohio Ave.
According to the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department (SLMPD), District 3 officers were dispatched to the scene where they found a male victim shot on the sidewalk. Despite being barely alive and unconscious, emergency medical services were able to transport him to the hospital. He underwent multiple surgeries but remained in critical-unstable condition. At 3:39 AM yesterday, the man tragically passed away.
Homicide detectives immediately began to investigate the shooting. However, details surrounding the circumstances of the incident have not been released. The identity of the victim has also been kept confidential pending notification of next of kin.
The SLMPD is calling on witnesses or anyone with information related to the shooting to step forward. They are urging individuals to directly contact the Homicide Division at 314-444-5371 or to anonymously provide tips through CrimeStoppers.
