A man was killed last Saturday after being struck by a vehicle in St. Louis Place. District 4 officers of the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department responded to a call at the intersection of N. Florissant and Hebert Street, where they found the adult male pedestrian seriously injured.
Despite receiving medical attention and being transported to the hospital, the victim died from his injuries. The St. Louis Police Department stated that its Accident Reconstruction Unit is investigating the collision to determine how it occurred.
Preliminary evidence indicates the man was crossing the street mid-block, outside of a designated crosswalk, when he was struck by a black Chevrolet Equinox. Authorities confirmed that the driver stayed at the scene and has been cooperating with the investigation.
Police say visibility may have been a factor in the accident, noting the pedestrian was wearing dark clothing in the evening. Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances of the collision.
