A workplace accident in Pittsburgh's Strip District has left a man hospitalized after he was pinned by a large industrial machine this morning. The incident happened in a building on the 100 block of 15th Street, a hub of activity where the sirens of emergency vehicles pierced the usual hum of the district just before the clock struck 9:10 a.m., according to WPXI.
The response from Pittsburgh's police, firefighters, and medics was swift, and upon their arrival, they found the man unresponsive underneath a heavy machine, a piece of industrial equipment that, in unforeseen circumstances, had become his burden. The man was initially unresponsive. He regained consciousness and was alert by the time medical personnel transported him to the hospital, as confirmed by WTAE.
While the nature and the extent of the man's injuries have not been publicly disclosed, officials from Pittsburgh Public Safety described his condition as "stable." The identity of the injured man, an employee or possibly a passerby caught in an unfortunate series of events, has yet to be established, as investigators and safety inspectors likely begin piecing together the events leading up to the accident.
