In a startling display of aggressive behavior on our community roads, a Medway man has been arrested following a road rage incident involving a bicyclist. The Medway Police Department took to social media to inform the public of the arrest of 31-year-old Travis Ross of Avon, which occurred on a Thursday morning after intensive investigative work involving multiple law enforcement agencies.

EMBED POST:

According to the details shared by Medway Police social media post, on January 7, a bicyclist had a narrow escape after almost being hit by a gray sedan near the Medway Commons entrance on Holliston Street. The driver of the sedan proceeded to exacerbate the situation, stopping his vehicle to point a handgun at the already endangered cyclist, before taking flight. Witnesses present during the incident, along with surveillance footage and license plate reader technology, helped corroborate the victim's story, and an independent witness provided a photograph of the alleged perpetrator's vehicle.

It was through these collaborative efforts that law enforcement was able to identify Ross's gray 2014 Cadillac ATS as the suspect vehicle. Surveillance video, license plate data, and witness information led investigators to pinpoint Ross as the individual behind the menacing act. The execution of an arrest warrant and search of Ross's vehicle, residence, and business were carried out by Medway Police Detectives in partnership with the Avon Police Department and the Metro LEC SWAT Team.

In the course of the arrest, which transpired as Ross pulled into a parking space, a loaded 9mm handgun was found on the driver's seat of his vehicle. Further ammunition and a secondary magazine for the firearm were also uncovered during the subsequent search. Ross faces two counts of Assault by Means of a Dangerous Weapon and was arraigned in the Wrentham District Court, where his bail was set at $500. As part of his release conditions, Ross is prohibited from making contact with the victim and from possessing firearms or ammunition. His next court appearance is set for early March.

The incident and its aftermath provide a stark reminder of the perils of road rage and the importance of deescalating hostile roadway encounters. Moreover, it sheds light on the instrumental role that surveillance technology plays in law enforcement's ability to confirm witness statements and pinpoint suspect vehicles. The Medway Police Department has expressed gratitude to all involved agencies for their pivotal cooperation in the arrest and investigation of this dangerous situation.
