The crime took place on January 16, 2026, around 3:40 p.m., where two individuals, a Black female and a Black male, were reportedly seen exiting the property with a large garbage bag, believed to contain stolen copper. According to the official statement released by the Memphis Police Department, the suspects were thereafter observed making their way in the area of Third Street near Brooks Road.
In attempts to locate the individuals, the authorities provided descriptions of the pair, with the first suspect being a thin-built Black female donned in a tan or brown hoodie, black gloves, bearing a small pink backpack, blue jeans, and long black boots. Suspect #2 is a Black male of average build, seen wearing a brown hat with ear flaps, a tan long-sleeve shirt, black pants, and black shoes. The Memphis Police Department urges anyone with insights into the incident to come forward and contact Crime Stoppers at 901-528-CASH.
While the specifics of the burglary, such as the exact quantity of copper taken or its value, were not disclosed in the report, the theft of metals like copper is a concerning trend due to the material's value in recycling markets.
