
Authorities in Memphis have issued a call for assistance in a case concerning a shoplifting incident that occurred at the Walmart store located at 6727 Raleigh Lagrange Road. On the late afternoon of Friday, January 16, according to the Memphis Police Department, an unidentified individual carried out an attempted theft.
The sequence of events, as reported by officials, started at around 5:15 p.m. when the suspect, described as a Black male, entered Walmart. He proceeded to selectively fill a shopping cart with items, chiefly steaks and Gain Laundry detergent. The individual then attempted to quickly exit through the grocery entrance without the intention of rendering payment for the goods. It was here that the suspect was intercepted by the store’s greeter, who requested a receipt for the items in the cart.
After being unable to provide proof of purchase, a struggle ensued between the suspect and the Walmart employee. Ultimately, the suspect managed to escape and was last seen fleeing the scene in a black Nissan. The Memphis Police Department has shared a description of the suspect, noting he was wearing a black coat and black jeans during the incident.
Memphis Police are actively seeking information regarding the suspect's identity and whereabouts. They have encouraged anyone who might possess knowledge pertinent to the case to promptly come forward with information.
