
Memphis police are on the lookout for a young man following an attempted robbery at a local convenience store yesterday morning. According to the Memphis Police Department's official site, the incident occurred at approximately 10:00 a.m. on January 5, at 1570 Alcy Road. Upon responding to the call, officers learned that the suspect, a thin male believed to be between 18 and 22 years old, walked up to the checkout counter and brandished a black gun.
The situation quickly escalated when the store clerk responded by pulling out a gun as well and firing a shot that struck the suspect in the upper body. Despite his injury, the suspect managed to flee the Quick Check Store on foot, heading north on Perry Road from Alcy Road, an area he is said to frequent. The Memphis Police Department's report provides a description of the suspect as standing somewhere between 5'2" and 5'5" tall, with a tattoo over one of his eyebrows. He was wearing a black face covering, a white hoodie with a red shirt underneath, black pants, black shoes, and he was armed with a black handgun.
Memphis Police are appealing to the public for information about the suspect or the incident. They're urging anyone with knowledge to come forward and contact Crime Stoppers at 528-CASH.
