
The latest weather update from the National Weather Service in Memphis promises a mild and sunny day ahead for the city, with a high expected to reach 61 degrees and a southwest breeze ushering in at 10 to 15 mph. However, the clear skies won't last long as there's a 40 percent chance of showers rolling in after 4 am tonight, and clouds will increase, setting a low around 43, NWS Memphis reports.
Tomorrow, rainfall seems more likely, especially before noon with the NWS putting chances at 60 percent, and while the rain might offer less than a tenth of an inch of new precipitation it's the shift in wind to the north in the afternoon that's likely to grab attention, as temperatures are set to hit a high near 52, The evening will give way to a much crisper air as the temperature plummets to around 24 degrees under mostly clear skies and a north wind blowing 10 to 15 mph.
Looking forward towards the latter part of the week, Thursday will bring plenty of sunshine with a high nearing 37 degrees but the night once again descends into cold with a low of about 28 degrees according to the NWS forecast, Friday continues the trend of mostly sunny skies and climbs to a more comfortable 51 degrees, while the following night is expected to also be mostly clear with the thermometer dropping to around 31.
The weekend forecast from NWS Memphis suggests a consistent pattern with a high near 42 on Saturday and partly cloudy skies by nightfall, setting a low around 22, Sunday upholds the sunny disposition hovering around 37 degrees during the day but Sunday night things take a dip again with a low around 21; and for the upcoming M.L.King Day, it seems the sun will stand resolute in the sky with high temperatures stretching to about 43 degrees.
