A collision on I-80 near the McBryde Avenue off-ramp in Oakland led to a Subaru flipping onto its roof and minor injuries for its occupants, a recent post from CHP - Oakland on social media revealed. The incident, which took place on Wednesday, involved a series of unfortunate events starting with a lane change gone wrong.
According to the CHP Oakland post, the young driver behind the wheel of the Subaru was attempting to switch from the #2 lane to the #1 lane without properly checking for other vehicles. The subsequent collision with a Toyota Prius caused both cars to spiral out of control, with the Subaru eventually overturning and the Prius hitting another car, a Toyota Sequoia. The accident occurred within an active construction zone, but no workers were injured.
Both the driver and passenger of the Subaru were safely restrained with seatbelts, which officials credit for the lessened severity of injuries sustained. They were promptly transported to a hospital for treatment. No other individuals, including any construction workers present in the area, were harmed in the chaos.
