A routine stop at a Phoenix QuikTrip turned into a crime scene yesterday morning when a man was shot outside the store at 44th Street and Oak Street, leaving him in critical condition, and the surrounding neighborhood was rattled.
Emergency crews rushed the victim to a nearby hospital while Phoenix police taped off the area and detectives moved in to document the scene. Officers arrived shortly before 8 a.m. and found the man suffering from at least one gunshot wound, with life-threatening injuries, and no suspect informationwas released, according to Arizona's Family.
Detectives stayed at the QuikTrip well into the morning as officers interviewed potential witnesses and gathered evidence. Investigators were still on site as of 11:15 a.m., and Phoenix Fire Department crews provided medical aid before the victim was transported, KTAR News reported.

Detectives are now working to piece together what led up to the shooting and who pulled the trigger. Convenience stores and gas stations around the Valley have seen their share of violent incidents in recent years, some ending in death.
