
Tragedy struck in Portland's Powellhurst-Gilbert neighborhood when a motorcyclist lost their life in a collision involving an e-scooter yesterday afternoon, as per the Portland Police Department. Authorities were called to the scene at Southeast 122nd Avenue and Southeast Tibbetts Street at 4:55 p.m. where they discovered the two-vehicle crash.
Portland Fire & Rescue, who arrived shortly after the incident, confirmed the motorcyclist succumbed to their injuries on the spot, while the e-scooter operator was transported to the hospital with injuries considered not life-threatening, as reported by the Portland Police Department. The crash resulted in an immediate response from the Portland Police Traffic Division Major Crash Team, who initiated an investigation, and, as part of their routine procedures, Southeast 122nd Avenue was closed from Southeast Division Street to Southeast Powell Boulevard, restricting the movement of residents and commuters alike.
The local police are reaching out to any potential witnesses, urging them to come forward with details pertaining to the crash by contacting them via email at [email protected], with a reference to case number 26-1563 attached in their correspondence.
