A tragic incident unfolded yesterday when a motorcyclist lost his life on I-640 West near the Broadway exit in Knoxville due to a wrong-way crash. The Knoxville Police Department reported that the crash occurred around 7:15 p.m. when a passenger vehicle, which was going in the incorrect direction, collided with the westbound motorcycle.
The collision resulted in the instant death of the motorcyclist, an adult male whose identity is currently withheld until the next of kin can be notified. The police revealed that the vehicle's occupants decided to fiercely run from the scene after the crash and before the arrival of officers. However, the owner of the vehicle was soon apprehended by the responding officers in the vicinity and was taken into custody. Charges are expected to be filed as the investigation continues into the specifics of the crash.
