Following an appeal to the Nashville community, local authorities have made an arrest in the tragic shooting death of DoorDash driver David Valentine Jr. WSMV reports that after being provided with several tips from witnesses and analyzing surveillance footage, Metro Nashville Police Department arrested 21-year-old Atirahs Hogan last Saturday.
Valentine, aged 33, was shot and killed while out on deliverance duty on January 4. According to FOX17, Valentine had just completed a food delivery when he was fired upon near a nightclub on Murfreesboro Pike. Hogan and her companions had just been expelled from this nightclub moments before the gunfire.
Hogan is charged with criminal homicide and felony reckless endangerment, with bond set at $520,000. MNPD officials credited the community for helping advance the investigation, urging anyone with information about crimes to come forward. A department spokesperson said the public’s assistance in this case was invaluable, according to a statement obtained by WKRN.
Valentine's girlfriend, present at the time of the shooting, managed to bring their vehicle to a safe stop and dial 911. He was transported to Vanderbilt University Medical Center, where he later succumbed to his injuries. Hogan's charges include felony reckless endangerment for allegedly shooting from within a vehicle, and she is scheduled to appear in court tomorrow. The community's tips also played a significant role in the arrest after MNPD released surveillance images to the public last Friday.
