
The National Weather Service in Norman, Oklahoma, issued a Cold Weather Advisory early Tuesday for much of Oklahoma and parts of northern Texas, warning of dangerously low wind chills reaching up to 5 degrees below zero. The advisory remains in effect until 10 a.m. CST and highlights an increased risk of hypothermia for individuals exposed to the cold without proper precautions, according to the National Weather Service.
The advisory covers central, east central, northern, northwest, southeast, southern, southwest, and western Oklahoma, along with areas of northern Texas. The National Weather Service notes that very cold wind chills during this period pose a threat to anyone spending extended time outdoors.
In Oklahoma City, conditions are expected to be mostly sunny today, with highs near 34 degrees, based on the National Weather Service forecast. Winds are expected to be light, shifting during the afternoon, but cold conditions are forecast to persist through the morning hours. Residents are advised to wear appropriate cold-weather clothing, including hats and gloves.
Looking ahead, the National Weather Service forecast indicates continued cold weather throughout the week. Nighttime temperatures in Oklahoma City are expected to fall to around 15 degrees, with daytime highs in the mid to upper 30s. The National Weather Service advises residents to exercise caution when traveling outdoors and to remain aware of the ongoing cold weather risks.
