The city of Hillsboro has officially opened the doors of its latest fire station within the rapidly growing South Hillsboro neighborhood, ready to serve area residents with essential emergency services. Announced earlier this week, Fire Station 9 represents a significant development in the community's infrastructure, promising around-the-clock response for fire, rescue, and advanced medical services, according to the City of Hillsboro's website.
Built with the increase in call volumes and the need for rapid response in mind, this new installment ensures that the growing population of South Hillsboro will have access to reliable public safety services. Alongside its primary purpose, the station harbors administrative spaces, an Operations Center for the Economic & Community Development Department's Building Division, and workspace for police and other city departments, making it a multipurpose facility aimed to streamline city operations efficiently.
Designed to withstand disaster situations, Fire Station 9 isn't just a hub for emergency response. It showcases a commitment to sustainability and future development with electric vehicle charging stations available on-site. Plans are also set in motion for a self-service mini-branch of the library, which enhances its role as not merely a service provider but as a community space as well, according to the City of Hillsboro.
Area residents can mark their calendars for the Fire Station Community Open House event, which is scheduled for March 14. From 10 am to 2 pm, community members will have an opportunity to tour the state-of-the-art facility, meet the firefighters, and engage with other City staff from departments like the Building Division, Emergency Management, Police, Public Works, Water, and the Library. This event, heralding a new era of public safety and community involvement, aims to foster a deeper connection between Hillsboro's citizens and the multitude of services dedicated to their well-being.
