New Hampshire authorities are actively searching for an inmate who escaped after failing to return to her transitional housing unit from work. Marie C. Mitchell-Torres, a 37-year-old woman serving a sentence for the sale of a controlled drug and a probation violation, was placed on escape status last night after she didn't show back up to the Shea Farm Transitional Housing Unit in Concord as expected. According to a report from NBC Boston, she was last spotted departing a Chipotle restaurant around 4 p.m.
Mitchell-Torres was supposed to be back by 11:30 p.m., but corrections officials were left waiting. She was last seen wearing jeans, a pink sweatshirt, and a maroon hooded vest, carrying a small black backpack – this description is meant to help the public identify her, as detailed in a statement obtained by News Center Maine. Standing at about 5 feet 2 inches tall and weighing approximately 150 pounds, she is easily recognizable by her blue eyes and blonde hair.
The New Hampshire Department of Corrections has now intensified their calls for public assistance in locating the escaped inmate. Officials are underlining the importance of vigilance and community support in these circumstances. Anyone with information about the whereabouts of Mitchell-Torres has been urged to promptly contact Chief Investigator Jason Darrah of the New Hampshire Department of Corrections Investigations Bureau at 603-848-2569 or to directly call their local police.
Mitchell-Torres' background includes a criminal record involving controlled substances and previous probation issues. The specifics of her incarceration indicate a minimum custody release date of Dec. 2, 2025, and a maximum date of July 4, 2030, which aligns with the severity of her charges.
