Attention New Orleans drivers: Prepare for a series of nightly closures along I-10 set to begin this Sunday. The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) has announced that there will be recurring lane and ramp closures on both directions of I-10, stretching from Bullard Ave. to WB Louisa St., starting Sunday through January 22, due to guardrail installation. The right lane will be shut down each night from 8 PM until 5 AM, weather permitting, resuming normal traffic by Friday morning, January 23.
Additionally, both the westbound and eastbound off-ramps and on-ramps at Morrison Rd will see full closures on Sunday and Monday, between 10 PM and 5 AM, with the intention of enhancing motorist safety through the new guardrails. This means you’ll need to find an alternate route during these times. The same schedule applies to the on-ramps and off-ramps at Chef Menteur Hwy on the nights of Tuesday and Wednesday. For those using the Eastbound I-10 off-ramps at Downman Road, be advised of a complete closure from 10 PM on Thursday to 5 AM the following morning.
DOTD is conducting guardrail work to improve driver safety along key routes. While the project may cause temporary delays, it is part of the department’s ongoing commitment to maintain transportation infrastructure. Closures and schedules may change due to weather, so drivers should check for updates and plan accordingly.
