
Tragedy struck early Friday morning in the Gentilly Woods neighborhood of New Orleans where a deadly shooting claimed the life of a woman and left two others injured. Responding to the incident at approximately 3:51 a.m. in the 5100 block of Metropolitan Drive, New Orleans police discovered two women with gunshot wounds, one of whom was pronounced dead at the scene, and learned of a man who had also been shot, as reported by WWLTV.
The WDSU account noted that officers were directed to the home by one of the victims, a male, leading them to the grim discovery inside where the violent act took place the surviving female victim alongside the man were transported to a hospital for treatment, however, details about their condition were not made immediately available. A male suspect was taken into custody inside the residence, an aspect of the case still unfolding as investigators work to piece together the events that led to the shooting.
With the area still reeling from the heart-rending violence, WVUE's brief report corroborated the discovery of the deceased woman and the wounded man by NOPD officers, who arrived just before the 4 a.m. mark, indicating further that additional information was pending as NOPD's investigation into the homicide continues.
