
Earlier today in Millington, an incident unfolded as a train collided with an unoccupied car on the tracks. According to WREG, the Millington Fire and Police departments responded to the Navy Road crossing, where the vehicle was discovered parked on the tracks during the crash. Thankfully, police have confirmed that the car was empty at the time of the collision and there have been no injuries reported.
Firefighters were quickly to search the vehicle and confirmed that it was indeed abandoned. The details of the accident, which occurred near the intersection of Raleigh Millington Road and Navy Road just before 4:30 a.m., were provided by the Millington Fire Department in a statement obtained by Action News 5. The incident led to no reported injuries and at this stage, the driver of the abandoned vehicle has not been located.
The aftermath of the incident painted a stark scene with a halted train and the severely damaged car near Boatwright Pharmacy on Leroy Boatwright Street. FOX13 Memphis reporters arrived around 5 a.m. to find the collision's remnants.
