
The latest baby name trends in Louisiana show Noah and Amelia as the most popular names for newborns in 2025. The Louisiana Department of Health reports that 214 boys were named Noah and 191 girls were named Amelia, based on provisional birth certificate data.
Alongside Noah and Amelia, the LDH’s top 10 names reflect nationwide favorites. For boys, the list includes Liam, James, John, Elijah, Oliver, William, and Hudson. For girls, Charlotte, Olivia, Emma, Harper, Sophia, Evelyn, Ellie, and Nova round out the top 10. The data, collected by the Center for Vital Records and Statistics, highlights Louisiana parents’ naming preferences.
Governor Jeff Landry expressed pride in Louisiana’s growing families, noting the significance of each new birth. LDH Secretary Bruce Greenstein emphasized that birth records reflect the care involved in a healthy pregnancy and birth. These statements highlight the state’s focus on newborn health and the celebration of life.
Darlene Smith, Deputy Assistant Secretary for the Center for Vital Records and Statistics, said it is an honor to maintain official records for new births. CIO Evelina Broussard highlighted the role of technology in ensuring accurate and timely recording of births, marriages, and deaths. Their remarks emphasize both the personal and administrative importance of Louisiana’s vital records.
