
A man and a woman are sought by the NYPD following a violent incident on a Bronx subway, which escalated from an argument into a slashing attack. As reported by Bronx News12, the confrontation occurred on January 15, just after 6 p.m., on a northbound 5 train near the Nereid Avenue-White Plains Road station. The dispute led to a 24-year-old man being slashed in the face with some type of cutting instrument by one of the suspects after a physical fight broke out.
According to the Bronx News12 report, after intervening in the argument, the second suspect was involved and inflicted the facial injury. The suspects then escaped on foot, with their whereabouts remaining unknown. The victim received medical care at NYC Health+Hospitals/Jacobi and is expected to make a recovery.
The NYPD Crime Stoppers has since disseminated a call for public assistance to track down the individuals involved in the assault. In a Facebook post, the NYPD Crimestoppers outlined the details of the attack, including the time and location. They also provided multiple ways for the public to submit any information related to the incident, either by calling their hotline or using the Crime Stoppers website or social media.
"WANTED FOR AN ASSAULT: on Thursday, January 15, 2026, at approximately 6:20 P.M., a 24-year-old male victim was on board a northbound '5' train at the Nereid Avenue/White Plains Road Subway Station, in the confines of the 47th Precinct/Transit District#12, when an unidentified individual approached the victim and engaged in a verbal dispute," the NYPD Crimestoppers detailed in the post. They urge anyone with information to come forward and remind the public that tips can be submitted anonymously.
